Prerequisites: Must be at least 14 years old and hold current adult CPR/AED certification. Two-year-certification. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course Course length: 16 hours Day One (6 hours) Topics: Introduction to the Course: Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course Overview 30 minutes Wilderness and Remote First Aid Kits 15 minutes Assessment, Part 1—Primary (Initial) Assessment 45 minutes Assessment, Part 2—Secondary (Focused) Assessment 1 hour, 45 minutes Calling for Help and Evacuation Considerations 15 minutes Shock and Heart Attack 30 minutes Chest Injuries 30 minutes, Head (Brain), Neck and Spinal Injuries 2 hours (Partial lecture) Day Two (6 hours) Topics: Chest Injuries 30 minutes, Head (Brain), Neck and Spinal Injuries 2 hours (Partial lecture) Wounds and Wound Infection 2 hours, 15 minutes Bone and Joint Injuries 2 hours, 15 minutes Burns 30 minutes Abdominal Illnesses 30 minutes Day Three (4 hours) Topics: Hypothermia 45 minutes Heat-Related Illnesses 1 hour Lightning 30 minutes Altitude Illnesses 30 minutes Submersion Incidents (Drowning) 35 minutes Allergies and Anaphylaxis 40 minutes IMPORTANT: Please wear comfortable clothing, there will be good number of physical activities the day of your training. Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away.
